Tea Ceremony
Driven by ancient ritual, fueled by mother nature and designed to induce a state of presence. This is where fragmented identity dissolves into aligned being. Let’s sit in tea together.
Rebecca’s Approach
Be gently transported through vortexes of time in nature, ancestral history and the gift of presence. The tea leaves used during ceremony are sourced from sustainable, protected and far east lands. They are by no means psychedelics. If open to it, they will induce gentle steeps of wisdom that come with being aligned to your nature and the unique nature of the sacred plants being served.
In group or private one-on-one sessions, Rebecca shares Zen, Cha Dao (茶道) and Torah life force teachings through the art of tea ceremony and the medicine of wildcrafted, organic and small batch tea leaves. The side-handle teapot and bowls she uses are one of a kind and handcrafted to match the artisanal and intentional setting she creates to make guests feel in flow.
Rebecca’s tea room is located in Great Neck, NY. Address details to be shared upon confirmation of your reservation. Also available to travel upon request.
Tea has always been a soothing beverage for me. Little did I know the roots of this passion are embedded in my ancestral history. At 43 years old, I learned my great grandfather Ayoub was one of the biggest tea merchants in all of Iran, a country my parents had to flee but whose traditions and love for tea were instilled in me. As a child, I remember my beloved grandmother telling me about how much Great Grandfather Ayoub loved his wife Saltanat, but never had I heard stories about his thriving tea business.
With very few family members left to tell me about his empire, I signed up for a retreat to learn about the art of tea ceremony. What I thought would be a fun and basic tutorial on different types of teas turned out to be a magical journey through the medicinal, magnificently beautiful and meditative powers of tea plants.
It was an exploration of energetics that also tapped into my fascination with trees and Judaism’s teachings about the Tree of Life. It was very different from and in some ways more powerful than the psychedelic plant medicine journeys I’ve been on with spiritual facilitators.
At it’s core, the experience of sitting in tea ceremony, reinforced for me how connected we humans are all, just like the leaves of the trees tea comes from.
My Inheritance.
“We are all the leaves of one tree,
We are all the waves of one sea,
The time has come for all to live as one.”
The source of this quote is unknown and believed to be connected to Thich Nhat Hanh’s Buddhists teachings of interconnectedness. It also feels very resonant of Torah’s teachings of the Tree of Life.
